Your file never leaves your device; everything is processed in your browser. How to Add Page Numbers to a PDF
- Choose your PDF file.
- Select where the numbers go (bottom center, bottom right, and so on) and the number format.
- If the cover page should stay unnumbered, tick Don't number the first page; numbering then starts on the second page. Change the starting number to begin at, say, 15 instead of 1.
- Click Add Numbers and Download to get the numbered copy.
Your Files Stay Private
Numbers are stamped onto the pages in your browser; the document is never uploaded. Your original file is not changed: the tool always downloads a new copy. Need different numbering for front matter? Split it off with Split PDF, number each part, then recombine them with Merge PDF.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I number pages without numbering the cover?
Tick "Don't number the first page (cover)". The second page then gets the starting number (1 by default).
Do numbers appear correctly on landscape or rotated pages?
Yes. The tool reads each page's rotation and places the number upright along the visible bottom (or top) edge.
Can I remove the numbers later?
The numbers become part of the page content. Keep your original file if you might need an unnumbered version; the tool never overwrites it.
