Your file never leaves your device; everything is processed in your browser. For a copy of your ID, try something like "Only for XYZ Bank application – 2026".
How to Watermark a PDF
- Choose your PDF and enter the watermark text (for example CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, or COPY).
- Set the direction, color, opacity, and size. An opacity of 20–30% keeps the text underneath readable.
- Click Add Watermark and Download to get a copy with the watermark on every page.
Why Watermark a Copy of Your ID?
When you send a copy of a driver's license, passport, or other ID, writing who it is for and why across it makes it much harder to reuse for anything else. For example: "Only for ABC Rentals lease application – September 2026". Make sure the watermark does not completely cover important details.
Your Files Stay Private
The watermark is drawn and added in your browser, and the PDF is never uploaded. That is exactly what you want when the document is an ID or another sensitive record.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use accented characters or emoji in the watermark?
Yes. The text is drawn by your browser, so accented letters, non-Latin scripts, and even emoji display correctly.
Can the watermark be removed?
The watermark is added to each page as a separate layer. It is hard for ordinary users to remove, but PDF editing software can delete it. For stronger protection, also restrict editing with the Protect PDF tool.
Will the watermark make the text hard to read?
At the default 25% opacity, the text underneath stays easy to read. Increase the opacity for a more prominent watermark.
